Comparing ProMaster Filter Coatings

Comparing ProMaster Filter Coatings

Once you’ve selected the right filter for your desired effect, there’s another layer to consider - the coating on the filter. Coatings come in different grades to improve image quality and provide protection. Coatings can change optimal performance, making the image capture clearer, sharper, or reduce the amount of flare. Two lines of filters at ProMaster feature innovative coatings intended to add to the performance of your filter, so you can capture the best possible shot.

Pure Light

The Pure Light line of filters are crafted from a special combination of hydrophobic coatings and finely polished Schott B270™ optical glass. Pure Light CPL filters use high-transmission film for an impressive average light transmittance of 42.9%! Featuring 12 coatings to achieve extremely high levels of light transmission along with low reflectivity and glare.

Pure Light filters are made in Japan, home to the very best polishing techniques and coating formulas. Both Pure Light CPL and Protection filters protect your valuable lens against the elements such as sand, dirt, oil, water, and even fingerprints without sacrificing clarity or interfering with the natural light transmitted to your camera.

HGX Prime

The ProMaster HGX Prime filters are designed to offer exceptional performance and protection. During manufacturing, each HGX Prime filter is individually ground, polished, and coated. The Repellamax II anti-static barrier resists dust, dirt, oil, water, and fingerprints. These filters are proven to be strong and durable, with an ultra-hardened glass and scratch-resistant coating. They transmit brilliant light to achieve the clearest possible image.

HGX Prime filters are available as Protection filters, UV filters, Circular Polarizers, VND (variable neutral density), and VND Extreme filters. Each of these filters have different levels of coating, which produces different effects.

  • HGX CPL filters have 18 coating layers

  • HGX Protection filters have 22 coating layers

  • HGX UV filters have 22 coating layers

  • HGX VND filters have 36 coating layers

These premium filters help take your photography and videography to the next level.
