Elevate Your Stability with the Specialist Series
Who doesn't love a new tripod or monopod? These are staple pieces within any creator's kit. The Specialist series has been a major component of our lineup over the years, providing stability for creators across the globe.
Within the line, there are a number of different options. One thing you will find throughout is a robust build quality. These pieces are meant to be used and can handle some serious abuse. Whether you find yourself in a studio or on a mountain switchback you can be confident in the reliability of the Specialist line. For the entire month of February, we are excited to offer 15% off the whole line!
The Specialist line of tripods are absolute workhorses! Offered in both aluminum and carbon fiber configurations with quick deploying PROlock legs, these are a dynamic piece of equipment.
At the smaller end of the scale, you’ll find the 425K and 425CK. This unit boasts all of the stability and higher-end features in a slightly smaller package. The carbon fiber model comes in at just under 4 lbs with a folded length of less than 24”. Across the lineup you’ll find the range of working heights to be quite impressive. On the 425, the minimum working height comes in at a shockingly low 7 inches with a max height of 68 ¾”.
Working up the line you have the 528K and 528CK. Exact same styling, just slightly more robust. One immediate difference you’ll notice however is the maximum working height of 80 ⅝”. Go up another to the 532 and you’ll have a max working height of 7 feet. That is ridiculous! Although the max working height goes up you can still bring the tripod all the way to ground at 7 ¼”. Combine this with a load capacity of 26 ½ lbs and you’ve got a very capable tool.
Where these tripods really shine is for the avid enthusiast or passionate professional who needs a reliable piece of equipment that can meet their demanding shooting schedule. Each professional tripod kit comes equipped with our Specialist Ball heads. Designed to achieve absolute precision these machined aluminum heads provide excellent control, allowing you to dial in the right shot while sparing no expense when it comes to quality.
You’ll find these tripods being used in every way imaginable. They thrive in studios and can be found strapped to the side of many photographers' backpacks. Stack them with one of our Gimbal Heads and you will have the ultimate wildlife combo.
The Specialist Monopod is truly a standout piece. It is built like a tank! Featuring an all-aluminum construction, durability is something that is not lacking here. You will notice that it also features our coveted PROlocks, making deployment quick and easy. The 4-section leg design boasts a generous 6 feet of maximum working height and a compact 12” minimum working height. This gives you lots of flexibility when looking to vary your shot angle whether you are shooting sports, wildlife, or anything in between.
Atop the monopod, you will find our Specialist Cine Head. Although small in appearance this head offers a lot of functionality. A video handle allows you to make smooth panning and tilting motions, great for tracking moving subjects. This really improves the overall usability of the monopod and makes it a very functional piece for professional work. When you combine this with the added stability of the 3 legged base you can achieve very smooth footage. For those times that you want to be extra nimble you can drop the 3 legged base and attach a rubber foot or stainless steel spike (we include both!).
There are occasions where a tripod isn’t necessary and having the added flexibility of a monopod is very helpful. The Specialist Monopod has found its way onto my camera bag for a number of shoots and for good reason. It functions really well for run and gun shoots, especially when you’re trying to stay low profile. The size of the monopod makes it easy to strap to the side of your camera bag and it provides ample stability for a wide array of shooting scenarios. The added video handle also aids control and makes camera operation much easier. For reference, I’ve used this with a rigged out a7siii with a cage, monitor, and a 70-200 lens and it was an excellent experience! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent complement to their hybrid photo/video kit.
Who Are These For?
In short, everyone! The best thing about the specialist line is that it really can be used by creators at any level. Whether you are just stepping into the game or are a seasoned pro you’ll find value across the board. Getting into the Specialist line guarantees that you’ll have a dynamic piece of gear to use for years to come.
