More Memory Means More Capabilities
Memory cards are one of the backbone elements of any creator’s kit. As the scope of photographers and videographers needs have changed, so have our memory options. We are expanding our memory horizons, covering a wider array of capabilities.
Many have reached out asking about the introduction of CFexpress Type A. Well, we are excited to say that they are finally here. What this means is that you Sony shooters out there are able to maximize the capability of your cameras. Video shooters can film in the highest quality internal codec at the highest bit-rate without having to worry. Photographers can also shoot high frame rate stills without worry of buffering (wildlife and sport photographers rejoice).
The new advanced CFexpress Type A cards come in two sizes: 480GB and 960GB. Both are adequate for an array of shooting scenarios. These cards offer 1800 MB/s read speeds and 1700 MB/s write speeds making them very, very fast.
This is a big step for those of you looking to get the most out of your modern marvel of a camera and we are excited to offer them to existing Rugged and Advanced enthusiasts.
When it comes to SD cards, our Rugged line has become a favorite among many photographers and videographers for you guessed it…their Ruggedness. Offering serious durability this line was previously available in only V30 and V90 classes. That has now changed as we have added V60 Rugged cards to the family. These are a perfect bridge of value and performance. V60 cards cover most creative needs without breaking the bank. This means you can invest in more cards to help grow your creative business or take your passion to the next level.
These new Rugged cards have read speeds of 290 MB/s and 190 MB/s write speeds. This is a very healthy range of capability! They are offered in three sizes: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. V60 Rugged cards are great for shooting both photo and video, allowing hybrid shooters to easily switch between the mediums.
Our Advanced line of SD cards are great for blossoming photographers and videographers. Don’t let that fool you though these cards still offer some serious capability. This line was previously offered in a V30 and now is available in a V60 class card as well. You might be wondering, “why would I not get the Rugged?" or “what’s the difference?”, both of which are fair questions!
The Advanced line of V60 cards, while still durable, does not share the exact same manufacturing process of Rugged that makes them extremely resilient to abuse. For that reason, they come in at a slightly reduced price when compared to Rugged. Don’t let that scare you from the capability of these cards though! They still offer read speeds of 280 MB/s and write speeds of 150 MB/s making them perfectly suited for both video and still capture. They are also available in sizes ranging from 128GB to 1TB…yes 1TB. Good luck filling that one up!
With new cards comes a refreshed line of card readers. Both the Trifecta and Trifecta Deluxe feature aluminum alloy housings making them durable but lightweight. Both units feature SD and micro SD card slots along with USB-C, USB-A, and USB Micro-B connections. The Standard Trifecta is suited for UHS-I cards with transfer speeds of 90MB/s. The Deluxe version on the other hand is suited for UHS-II cards with transfer speeds up to 300MB/s.
Both units come in under 3” long and under an ounce in weight making them incredibly easy to bring along for wherever your creativity may take you!
