What’s New at ProMaster this Fall?
It’s been a busy fall here at ProMaster! With several new drops, there’s a lot to be excited about. Let's break down some of our favorites!
The Jasper line of bags finds its way back onto the scene, boasting an array of features suited for the discerning photographer, videographer, or even the outdoor enthusiast. The new Rolltop Backpack is no slouch for any of you that fall into these categories (or maybe all of them at once).
Unlike the first generation, the v2 offers a true Rolltop, allowing you to gain an extra 9L of storage. This is incredibly helpful for stowing odd shaped gear or a jacket when stripping layers on a hike. It's a perfect catch-all and helps to keep your camera gear and whatever else you may bring separated.
You’ll also find that the straps have been “beefed” up and offer considerably more padding than before. This is perfect for prolonged use especially when hiking or traveling from one location to the next. In addition to this, you’ll find a properly padded waist strap for even more comfort and weight management while wearing the bag. Combine that with the adjustable chest strap and you’ll feel like you’re walking on air (not literally but work with me here). On the waist strap you’ll notice a little (removable) pouch. Everytime I look at it I think of stowing granola bars inside, but it is a perfect spot to keep your phone or any small accessories while on a shoot. If waist straps aren’t your thing, you can easily remove the strap and use the bag as a standard backpack for a more discrete presentation.
Another neat feature is that the included rain cover is no longer taking up precious space in the bag's side pocket. Turn your bag over and you’ll see a zipper pocket where the rain cover can be carefully stowed without getting in the way.
The satchel shoulder bags follow suit as they provide a surprising amount of storage in a compact form factor. You’ll find extra padding on the cross body strap with an included stabilizer strap for those of you that like to push the limits of your shoulder bags. A fast action zipper allows for direct access to your gear in the main compartment, limiting fuss while out on location. These bags shine in a number of environments, and are at home outdoors or function just as well in an office environment.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: convenience when out on location is paramount! Having gear that makes the creation process more seamless is always worth the investment. The Key Grip shines in this department.
We probably all have some assortment of tools on hand and we almost always need them on the fly. It sounds crazy but going back through your bag to find them can be a hassle, especially when you are scrambling to get a shot setup. The Key Grip solves this. Remove the cap on the extendable handle to reveal a set of hex keys. These can be used to tighten down your QR plate, loosen the grub screws on the head, or assist in swapping the tripod feet, and really anything else that requires a hex key. When you're done simply put them back in their respective slot and they'll be ready for when you need them next.
The Key Grip also features a video head with separate panning and tilting actions. The tilt knob can be adjusted, providing different levels of tension, allowing you to create smooth camera actions. What I really love about the head is that it has a 55mm leveling base which makes the leveling process a breeze. This is something that a lot of lightweight video tripods lack. Being able to get level on the fly means you miss less shots. Simple as that.
Key Grip is offered in both an aluminum and carbon fiber version as well as a monopod for wildlife and sport enthusiasts. Overall, this series really rounds out our tripod lineup and fills the gap for creators that require a video focused tripod that is still compact and light enough for use on any adventure.
When it comes to memory cards, durability should be at the top of the list of wants. Combine that with capability and you’ve got yourself the Rugged line of cards.
Previously, the Rugged line was offered in V30 and V90 classifications, filling the needs of both beginners and more advanced photographers/videographers. We are excited to introduce the new V60 class of Rugged cards to help bridge that gap. V60 cards greatly improve upon the capabilities of their V30 brethren while remaining a more affordable option than the V90s.
These new cards feature all of the same great durability features our Rugged cards have become known for including a shockproof, waterproof, and weatherproof design. Offered in a 128GB, 256GB, and a 512GB there is sure to be a size that best fits your needs!
You took the photos and hit the record button, so now what? You need to get your files onto your computer or hard drive. That's where the Trifecta cards readers come into play.
We’ve actually had these in our line previously, but like our Jasper bag, it was time for an upgrade. The new reader comes in 2 flavors: the Trifecta UHS-I reader for SD and Micro SD and the Trifecta Deluxe UHS-II reader.
The units offer three types of connections: USB-C, USB-A , and USB Micro-B and offer features such as:
Android on-the-go (OTG) capability and iOS compatibility for broad connectivity with computers, tablets, and phones
Dual slots accept SD and MicroSD cards and can access them simultaneously as independent drives, allowing for file copying and transferring
Durable aluminum alloy housing
Small, compact design that’s easy to take anywhere
The new Trifecta reader has had a face lift, boasting a silver colored aluminum body with silver end caps. The Trifecta Deluxe has a black aluminum body and offers speeds up to 300MB/s, giving it a significant boost over the standard Trifecta.
Both units will come packaged in a contemporary box that opens similarly to an envelope, revealing the card reader in a soft foam insert. The new design helps reduce plastic waste while providing a better user experience for you!
Small camera accessories are a fun way to personalize your gear. Our new deluxe soft shutter buttons add an extra element of design to your camera, while also improving its functionality.
Shutter buttons dampen vibrations, making for smoother shutter operation while increasing the height of your shutter, making it easier to find with your finger. These new buttons also come with an o-ring to help keep them in place without any binding. All-in-all a fun addition to any camera!
This is one of those products that can solve problems you didn’t know you had. Articulating arms allow you to combine different products or attach gear in unconventional ways. For example, maybe you need to add a monitor to your camera but it doesn't fit well with your configuration. By using an articulating arm you can attach a monitor and position it so it does not interfere with your existing rig setup.
What makes this arm unique are the retractable ARRI style pins on one of the connection points. The benefit of these pins is that they provide additional points of contact, making the unscrewing of a piece of gear less likely.
With three points of articulation you can achieve any position necessary. If you are a videographer, this is such an easy and helpful tool to have in your kit. Whether you are using it to attach a light, monitor, or get a unique angle with your camera it is an extremely helpful piece of equipment.
