Get a Grip! Introducing the Key Grip Tripod and Monopod Series

On a film set, the Key Grip is the senior crew member who manages the team responsible for camera and lighting equipment, ensuring a smooth and seamless video shoot. This role inspired the Key Grip line from ProMaster. The Key Grip line introduces a new video head, tripod kits in carbon fiber and aluminum, and a monopod kit. From the integrated tool storage to the lightweight frame, the Key Grip line is designed to support creating quality video content, anywhere.

From innovative tool storage within the tripod itself to a lightweight frame that goes wherever your shoot takes you, the Key Grip is made for creators making quality video content on the go.

The Key is the Grip

The most innovative feature of the Key Grip Video Head is the integrated tool storage cleverly concealed within the control handle. This is a convenient feature that is entirely new to the photo industry. The removable handle is extendable and locks in place with a twist. Unscrew the aluminum cap from the end of the Key Grip handle’s soft, comfortable grip to reveal a set of hex keys. Hexagonal artwork on the end of the handle clues in users to the tools hidden inside. Your tools for fine tuning your tripod or monopod are never far from reach.

While the handle may appear larger than usual to accommodate the hex keys inside, the size also makes it extremely comfortable to use. The large handle is easy to grip and confidently make smooth, precise pan and tilt adjustments with the head.

Key Grip Video Head

Essential for smooth results in videography, the Key Grip Video Head has separate panning and tilt movements, each with etched scales for when precision is required. The tilt adjustment has tension control for smooth motions. The head’s maximum load capacity is 3 kg (6.6 lbs) and comes with a Dovetail (arca-type) Quick Release Plate that’s over 101mm long, making it ideal for balancing a mirrorless video rig.

A scale on the QR platform makes it easy to repeat your setup time and again. The QR platform is also repositionable and can be changed from front-to-back to a side-to-side sliding direction, useful for mounting a camera with a cage or L-bracket attached. The head and plate use a safety bolt design to prevent a camera from accidentally falling off the head.

Key Grip Tripod Kit - Aluminum or Carbon Fiber

The Key Grip Video Tripod Kits pair the Key Grip head with a set of compact, lightweight tripod legs available in either Aluminum or Carbon Fiber. Without a center column, the Key Grip tripod is lighter and has an incredibly compact collar that contains a 55mm leveling base with 15 degrees of tilt. Using a leveling base makes it very easy to make fine adjustments to achieve a level setup without having to adjust the tripod’s legs. The leveling base also has a bubble level. Three grub screws in the base (which can be tightened with the 2.5mm hex key included in the Key Grip handle) provide a secure connection to the head that prevents it unscrewing unintentionally. Despite the collar’s compact size, it features two accessory connection ports: ¼”-20 and 3/8”-16.

Each leg angle can be independently adjusted, and the kit achieves a very low ground-level setup of just over 9” tall. The Key Grip tripods come with 50mm self-leveling feet installed. These feet achieve excellent stability and, critical for video, help dampen vibrations. Remove the feet using one of the included 4mm hex keys and replace them with the included set of standard tripod feet, for capturing content on rough or uneven terrain. A removable weight hook also helps achieve greater stability when needed.

The Monopod Kit pairs the Key Grip head with a monopod and 3-leg base. Use the monopod with either the 3-leg base or as a traditional monopod. A rubber foot comes installed on the folding 3-leg base and can be installed directly to the monopod when the 3-leg base is removed.

The 3-leg base has a ball joint with tension control so you can tilt and swivel the entire monopod. Use the locking collar on the ball joint for panning movements without tilt. A stainless-steel spike is also included which can be used outdoors instead of the rubber foot. The monopod kit can be set up at slightly under 10” at ground level and extends to over 6” tall!

Get a Grip

The Key Grip bridges the need between a heavy, double truss tripod and a lighter, compact tripod. It’s the perfect option for creators on the go who still want a tripod built for quality video content. The Key Grip line is also an excellent option for birding and sport hunting enthusiasts. Two-way heads are excellent for spotting scopes and the compact, lightweight design will be appreciated by anyone trekking outdoors.

For a rig that includes a mirrorless camera, cage, monitor, microphone, and a small LED light, the Key Grip line is your best option for capturing video content on the go.
